Endorsed Candidates

The goal of the Children's Campaign Fund (CCF) is to elect a more child and family friendly legislature in Washington State. CCF analyzes voting records, conducts interviews in select races across the state, and solicits feedback from key stakeholders to endorse candidates who will be champions for children. Contributions are targeted to those races in which there is an opportunity to elect a strong advocate for children, where the dollars can make a difference, and where we can send a message that the well-being of the children of Washington State must be a legislative priority.

As part of the endorsement process, new candidates are interviewed by Children's Campaign Fund board members. In 2008, candidates will be asked about their views on issues involving foster care, hunger, children's health, and early learning.

Some of the issues explored in the 2006 election cycle included the following:

  • Expansion of health care coverage for all children by 2010
  • Strategies to eliminate child hunger in Washington State
  • Support for funding of the newly formed Department of Early Learning to consolidate all early learning programs (including child care subsidies) into a new cabinet-level department
  • Support for adequate funding to implement the foster care reforms in the Braam settlement
  • Strategies to maintain a sustainable budget in the 2007 – 2009 biennium
