Paul was born and raised in Seattle, and graduated from the University of Washington. Drawn to politics, he started volunteering for campaigns at age twelve and never stopped. Retired several years ago, Paul spent ten years on the staff of then Congressperson Mike Lowry, followed by six years for Congressperson Jolene Unsoeld, and later as Chief of Staff for Seattle City Councilmember Richard McIver.
Paul has been involved in dozens of political campaigns over the decades, sometimes as the manager, but frequently as the campaign treasurer. It is not unusual for him to serve as the volunteer treasurer for multiple campaigns in a single election cycle. As such, he was happy to offer his volunteer treasurer services to the Children’s Campaign Fund when approached over ten years ago.
