Jake Garcia

Jake is the Policy Director for the Latino Community Fund of Washington State and its sister organization, Progreso: Latino Progress. He hails from Vancouver, Washington, where he cut his teeth organizing farmers and farmworkers for equitable land-use policies and working on various state and local political campaigns.

Now, Jake spends his time lobbying for economic justice initiatives and developing public policy to support immigrants. His work has included co-designing policy solutions to address barriers to accessing public benefits, reducing hunger on college campuses, and making Washington a welcoming state for all. In his spare time, he can be found rooting for the Mariners and Kraken, hiking in the North Cascades, or fishing for rainbow trout in one of Western Washington’s many pristine lakes.
